Welsh Government Minister Visits Cwrt Dref Homes
June 24, 2015
Lesley Griffiths the Minister for Communities and Tackling Poverty took the time out of her busy Welsh Government diary and constituency activity to visit Rhondda Housing Associations new homes at Cwrt Dref, Aberdare on Thursday 18th June 2015.
The Minister was keen to visit the recently completed project which received Welsh Government funding and evidenced the great work being undertaken to increase quality housing supply. Crwt Dref in Aberdare is an excellent example of the new, quality affordable housing we are providing across RCT and the Cynon Valley.
Whilst visiting our new scheme the Minister met with a couple of the new tenants and chatted with them about the positive difference their new home was having on their health and lifestyle. The new tenants expressed their delight with their new home and the allocation process and support of their Housing Officer.
The Minister thanked those involved in the schemes development for their hard work and efforts and looks forward to continuing work with us to deliver more projects in the next few years.
The new scheme demonstrates our commitment to providing energy efficient affordable homes for the local community. WDL Construction worked on the build and offered community members work placements and experience to young people during the development.
Lesley Davies, chief executive of Rhondda Housing Association, said: “We’re delighted this scheme has come to fruition and the Minister chose to visit us. Through the funding we are able to deliver high quality energy efficient adapted properties which meet the needs of the community and provided much needed homes within our communities”
