Luke Takeuchi has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of Rhondda Housing Association.  Luke was the Director of Housing Services previously and will bring a vast experience of business innovation and leadership to the association as he commences his role from Monday 30th July 2018.

Originally from Cardiff, Luke previously worked in local government and also spent 7 years in the South West and North West of England in senior management roles with Places for People group, one of the largest development and regeneration companies in the UK. Luke joined RHA in 2014.

RHA has been providing affordable homes for 39 years and will continue to invest in the communities of RCT by delivering new properties for those in most need and creating regeneration projects to improve lives. Established in 1978/9 as Rhondda Fach Association with just 15 houses, we now have almost 1700 homes and are progressing our ambitious development strategy with a strong track record in recent years as the main provider of new affordable homes in the borough. By working to alleviate poverty and disadvantage through offering affordable homes, housing support, training, empowerment, and volunteering we are creating sustainable tenancies and proud vibrant communities.

Luke said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as the new Chief Executive and I am excited to continue our ongoing success across all areas of the business. My focus is on improving communities and listening to our tenants so we can improve our services and deliver real value for money. We will remain ambitious in our aspiration as a provider of new homes and importantly we will not lose sight of our social purpose. We have a strong team here at RHA and I am looking forward to working with our stakeholders and partners to continue to grow the association over the coming years.”

Chair of the board of management, Charles Middleton said:

“Luke demonstrates the strong leadership we are looking for. He has a wealth of experience and examples of being innovative within the social housing sector from his career in both large and small housing associations in England and Wales. His achievements as the Director of Housing Services at RHA for the last 4 years have been outstanding and we look forward to him leading us to a secure, robust and exciting future.”

“Luke takes over from Lesley Davies who is retiring and has guided the association to a position of great success. We wish them both all the very best in their future and remain excited for the challenges ahead.”
