Cwrt Castellau New Homes
May 20, 2016
May 2016 has seen us unveiling the final phase of 39 new homes in Cwrt Castellau, Beddau, RCT. The site was formally a field owned by the adjacent rugby club, and has received funding from through Welsh Governments Housing Finance and Social Housing Grants. The five million pound development was built in partnership with award winning Morganstone Construction to a a high design standard with a collection of materials which has created a very attractive and highly desirable location to live. Several of the bungalows are adapted for disabled use and have allowed the newly housed tenants to move into homes that are much better suited to their needs. There is already a real sense of community on this scheme, with new friendships, community groups and volunteering underway.
We were also involved with the local school (opposite the scheme) to support them with sport, further education options and training. Between ourselves and the contractor then we have worked with them on various initiatives, including Safety poster competitions, careers in Housing, Care and Construction training, volunteering projects to build a fence for the school and working to create a special sports kit. We offered work placements, training and apprenticeships on site during the build for those who had become disengaged in further education. Through out Make It Work programme young people found employment, and gained vital work experience that has helped them build on their own career paths.
