Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with those affected by the terrible fire earlier this week at Grenfell Tower in London.
We want to reassure our tenants who may be concerned with fire safety that all of our blocks of flats have current fire risk assessments in place. We do not manage any high rise flats (our maximum is 4 storey blocks) and all of our homes have smoke alarms.
We also inspect the fire detection equipment in our communal areas on a weekly basis and a specialist contractor also inspects the fire alarm system every 6 months.
Instructions on what action to take in the event of a fire can be found via the fire action notices which are erected in all communal areas. We encourage all residents to familiarise yourself with these notices. It is also advised to check your smoke alarm on a weekly basis and if there are any maintenance issues with it please call our office immediately. Please also note that communal areas should be free from any personal items to minimise the risk of fire.
If you have any concerns or queries regarding fire safety in your home then please contact your Neighbourhood Officer on 01443 424200 who will be able to assist.
