Big Lottery Funding Success!

Celebrating Funding Success!

Rhondda Housing is celebrating its success at securing another Big Lottery Grant, we have been awarded just over £244,000 to fund a 3 year project called

Find Your Future.

The money will be used to employ two members of staff, purchase equipment and fund project activities. Staff will be working closely with those not already involved in community activities or groups. The project will offer support with addressing social, economic and health issues, with the intention of increasing opportunities, developing skills and providing information and advice to our tenants.

Community Regeneration Manager Beverley Wheeler said,

”This is exciting news; with this funding we are able to continue our work in the community, supporting tenants to build their confidence, develop skills and improve their health and wellbeing”.

Over the next 2 months Find Your Future staff will be visiting your area with more information on what we can offer and how you can become involved in this project.

Sports Relief Fundraising

Last Friday (23/03/12) we held a joint “Feel Good” day in partnership with RCT Homes sheltered complex Bryn Ivor.

We asked other local RHA sheltered housing complex tenants if they wanted to join a fun day at the complex in Llwynpia. They had invited a chiropodist, a nail technician, a hairdresser and a beautician along and a gorgeous lunch for those who attended. Eleven RHA senior tenants came along and had a really wonderful time.

As it was the same weekend as Sports Relief then a raffle, donations and bingo was also organised and we raised a whopping £120!!! Which is brilliant considering we didn’t focus on fundraising specifically.

Sincere thanks to the staff who attended and helped out as it was a busy day but a great success.

RCT Housing Survey

RCT council are carrying out a County Borough wide housing survey for the next Local Housing Market Assessment update. The survey is currently live and due to close on 30^th April 2012. It aims to capture the views of households living in RCT across all tenures.

We are primarily asking households to complete this online via the link below:

But are also providing an option if people want to ring up and request a paper version (via the contact centre on 01443 425008)

RHA – Big Profile Winner

You may remember at Christmas Time in 2011 that we informed all tenants that we would be carrying out “The Big Profile” over the following year. This survey was to assist Rhondda Housing Association to tailor our services to better meet your needs and expectations. All those who helped us with our aim and completed the profile were entered into a prize draw to win £500! And the lucky winner was; Irene Parry from Beddau.

Irene said: “It’s nice to win, I’ve never won anything in my life! I’m going to spend it on myself and the grandkids”

Valentine’s Day Raffle

Congratulations to our Valentine’s Day Raffle winners – Claire Barnes, Matthew Romans and Rhiannon Evans!

Among the prizes were bottles of Sparkling Wine, a box of chocolates and half a day’s leave.

The organisation raised £42 and will be donating to RHA’s charity of choice for 2012.

Thanks to all who entered the raffle.
